Mine was a "mini-bike" I put together when I was 12. Bought an old frame for $10 and a used lawnmower engine for $15 and cobbled it together. Direct chain drive, no clutch. Started it by holding down on the back end and pushing. No brakes and the throttle was a piece of string. Two speeds, go-like-hell and stop. Mother got really pissed about the shoes I was going through (tennis shoes make lousy brakes). Caught fire twice when the carb vibrated loose and leaked gas all over the place.

Hooked me for life. I bought my first "real" bike, a blue 1966 Yamaha 100 twin cylinder 2-cycle, when I was 15. Never been without at least one bike since then.
